Warrior Scarlet : by Rosemary Sutcliff

We are going back in time (oh boy!). It's roughly 900 AD (the Bronze Age) in Britain.
Our hero is a boy named Drem, who dreams of being able to become a man and a warrior. (The reward of becoming a man, they got to wear a scarlet cloak.)But in order to become one, Drem must slay his wolf. Only one problem... He has a lame arm. It would be a dangerous task for a grown man, yet alone a teenage boy with both arms to use. But Drem must do it or he will be exiled to live with the little shepherds, the dark people. He can use his left arm well enough. He sets out and soon picks up the wolf trail. He and his friends track it and bring it to bay. But it is between Drem and his wolf now. Suddenly the wolf jumps. Drem falls under him. He thinks he's dead. But in the last minute, Drem's best friend comes in and saves him. The wolf gets away. Now what will happen? Will Drem ever be able to kill his wolf and become a man?? Or will he be banished away to the half-bloods,the dark people?
Ok, I hope I didn't give away too much. But this is a wonderful book. It's as good as 'The Eagle of the Ninth'. Enjoy!!!
