In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games," a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. This is an award winning book by acclaimed author, Suzanne Collins. I really enjoyed The Hunger Games, but be forewarned: It is extremely violent. So if you get queasy from Lord of the Rings, or other such material, you would advise you to leave it well alone.
Katniss is a very likable person, and so are Peeta and Gale(don't worry, they get introduced in the beginning), but I found the writing level to be very simple, almost annoyingly so, and the subject of the book being what it is.... I recommend this book(I'm in the middle of "Catching Fire" the second book to the trilogy) and I hope you like it! and the movie is released March 23, 2012, right around my b-day! Here is the trailer, and it stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutchinson as Katniss and Peeta.
I think it looks amazing!!!!!!!
