THE RING OF FIVE

Danny Caulfield doesn't know how he ended up at a mysterious academy called Wilsons. A few of the students are pretty scary. Someone tries to murder him. Even the ravens that haunt the school seem to be against him. Yet he also finds friends: Les, an exceptional thief; Dixie, who has an unsettling talent; and Vandra, a physick with special powers.

 It turns out that Danny is destined for a terrifying mission. As he embarks on his training, he is shocked and secretly thrilled to discover that he seems to have all the natural gifts of the perfect spy—most importantly, the ability to betray.


I finished it less than 2 minutes ago. It is my new favorite book in that genre.
This book is the first of a trilogy by Eoin McNamee. It is slightly dark, but please do not let the fact drive you away from it! Danny has a very strong character, and his friends Les, Dixie, and Vandra are also strong. If you've read the "A Wrinkle in Time" series by Madeline L'Engle, you will see similarities in the premises in which it is set. There is very little profanity in it (two uses of d**m), no romance, and the violence is on a mild level. CHEERS!!

I love it. It was really well written, even though it is 4th grade+, but the story was captivating, and an easy read. Jenna is cute and funny, and Boy 412 is so adorable. All of the characters are well developed, and this is also the first of 6 books. So I will get readin' the others and review those as well. Cheerio!

the Girl who could Fly

Piper McCloud can fly. Just like that. Easy as pie. Problem is, the good folk of Lowland County are afraid of Piper. And her ma’s at her wit’s end. So it seems only fitting that she leave her parents’ farm to attend a top-secret, maximum-security school for kids with exceptional abilities. School is great at first with a bunch of new friends whose skills range from super-strength to super-genius. But Piper is special, even among the special. And there are consequences too dire to talk about. Too crazy to consider. And too dangerous to ignore.

I loved this book. It was so sweet, and different, almost like a cross between Little house on the Prairie and X-men.  The plot was pretty original, and the writing was well done. It made me think of The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stuart, so fans of that amazing series will probably enjoy it. Overall I give it 8/10 :)

Project A

In late 19th Century Hong Kong the British may rule the land, but the pirates rule the waters. Reluctantly, the Coast Guard is given money to fight these pirates, but the pirates themselves have many contacts (that is, bribed officials) in the government, and seek to thwart the Coast Guard's efforts to eliminate them. One Coast Guard officer is Dragon Ma, who is determined that his beloved Coast Guard will not be made fools of.

That is the plot of Project A, a film directed and starred in by Jackie Chan(the martial arts master!).
It was released in 1983, and is rated PG-13 for violence. The violence is kung-fu, martial arts, etc.., and is rather comically done, but there is one scene when a man gets shot in the head, and some blood is shown.
But Jackie Chan (aahhhh!!!!!) did all of the stunts ( and trust me, they look like they hurt. ALOT.) and they all looked pretty awesome. There is also very comical dialogue; it was originally shot in chinese, and has english overlays. Well, what can I say but, I hope you will enjoy this film* as much as I did and ADIEU!
