The Eagle: The Movie

Last night I saw The Eagle,which I have been waiting to see ever since December.I was not disappointed. Which was nice,because in general,it didn't do very well. The story plot is:
"In 120 A.D.,Centurion Flavius Aquila set out with the Ninth Legion to subdue an uprising in the North. The 5,000 men and their treasured eagle standard were never seen(or heard of) again. 20 years later,the commander's son,Marcus Flavius Aquila sets out to solve the mystery of his father's disappearance with the help of his british slave,Esca."
In 2nd century Rome,the eagle standard and honor were everything,as the saying went:"Eagle lost,honor lost.Honor lost,all lost."
So if you lost the eagle,that was one of the biggest disgraces and the legion could never be reformed.
Marcus has dedicated his life to be the best soldier that he possibly can be to restore his family's name and honor.
But then something happens(I won't say what)and the only way to restore the honor is for him to go find the eagle.
Here's my review.
The Eagle is rated PG-13 for Battle sequences and brief Disturbing Images.
It was violent,yes,but most of it wasn't very bloody(except swords and wounds). Two boys get killed(one in a fight,and one deliberately)and blood is shown. There was gladiator fight and a beheading(far-off). About on Return of the King level. There was very brief language in the beginning.The only thing that I didn't like was the screenplay. It was done by Jeremy Brock,and it was just wayyy too simple.:(But the acting was good,the cast including Channing Tatum,Jamie Bell,Mark Strong and Donald Sutherland.
It was really neat,because Channing Tatum(Marcus)and Jamie Bell(Esca) both did all but 2 of their stunts,including all the horse riding. And there was no CGI in this movie. The scenery was beautiful(being in Scotland)and the music score was really good. The movie was very well made.My rating is 7/10 stars.
ps. Don't watch the UNRATED VERSION!!! It had more blood and gore and it wasn't really extended at all. Nothing better than the theatrical.

The Way Back

"The Way Back" is a  Peter Weir film about prisoners escaping from a Siberian prison camp in World War 2 and walking all the way to India. It was very good,and well acted.I loved the scenery. But,there was brief strong language at one part,and other brief language at another part. Also there are brief suggestional sketches in the beginning. And if you can't watch people dying of thirst in a desert with swollen,bloody feet,then this is not for you. I cried at one part.
(But anyone who knows me knows that I cry alot of things). Apparently, it was harder to make this movie accurately,because the Siberians didn't keep records on how they treated prisoners
(The Germans kept records and videos and such on the concentration camps).
Overall 8/10 stars. The cast includes:

Nicholas Nickleby

Oh my, this is such a good movie. If you have not been acquainted with this movie/book, it is a Charles Dickens classic. And here's the plot.

"Common Dickensian themes of poverty, social class, and honor come across clearly in this tale of a 19-year-old country gentlemen (Charlie Hunnam) who is suddenly impoverished when his beloved father dies after losing his fortune. Nicholas, with his mother (Stella Gonet) and sister Kate (Romola Garai), find themselves at the mercy of their rich, loutish uncle Ralph Nickleby (Christopher Plummer) who delights only in their misery. He sends Nicholas away to work as a teacher at Dotheboys Hall, a decrepit boarding school attended by sad, soiled, abused urchins. Meanwhile, Kate's reputation is at stake with uncle Ralph trying to marry her off to a foulmouthed client to whom he owes a debt. With the help of his faithful sidekick Smike (Jamie Bell), Nicholas avenges Kate's honor and conspires with some new friends to bring down horrid uncle Ralph."

I did not just write that. I didn't feel like I could express the story line well enough. Forgive me for that. But anyways,there is some child abuse at Dotheboys, so sometimes it is hard to watch.

But the reason this is so good, Charles Dickens was able to express tragedy,comedy,and adventure all the the same book. The acting was done terrificly well.  My favorite character, Smike, is a cripple,who was a former student at Dotheboys,but having no family,the Squeers keep him on "out of the kindness of their hearts". If you watch the movie, you will see the reason for the quotation marks. Christopher Plummer is the evil Uncle Ralph,and he does that wonderfully.The cast also includes Charlie Hunnam(Nicholas),Nathan Lane, Jim Broadbent,Juliet Stevenson,and Barry Humphries. This is a wonderful adaption of the book,

and it is definitely worth watching. ~JAM~ <3

KUNG FU PANDA 2.

Here's Kung Fu Panda 2. I saw it yesterday afternoon, and I liked it.
For once,a sequel that doesn't have rebellious sons or daughters! I really got tired of that.
The bad "guy" is a peacock named Lord Chen. 
The 5 are still as awesome as ever. 
So in ancient China,the peacocks created fireworks. The rulers of the peacocks have a son(Chen)and bring him to a soothsayer. She says that Chen will meet his doom by a white and black panda. Lord Chen then destroys all the pandas(or so he thinks).His parents are horrified,and band him from China. But then Chen creates a weapon to destroy kung fu, and take over China. So,can the furious 6 :) stop him?
It wasn't as good as the first one, but I would still go see it in the cheap theater again.
It's very safe for younger kids, and finally just PG content!
